In the design of drive components for our cooling towers, we essentially work with standard motors. We fit direct drives to smaller cooling fans. Bevel helical gearboxes are usually installed with larger fan units. A horizontal composite shaft with flexible couplings creates the connection with the drive motor.

These are designed with a high degree of protection in accordance with the operating conditions. Direct drives work with a close coupled fan arrangement on the motor/gear  drive shaft. Standard motors from well-known manufacturers are recommended, as the gear motors are positioned in the humid air flow stream requiring a high degree of protection. In many cases, pole-changing drive motors provide economical adaptation to climatic and operating conditions.

On request, a continuously variable speed control can be fitted using a frequency converter system.
